Why is 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan Cruise control not working?

2005 dodge caravan and cruise control is not working?

  • besides the fuses what else can I check, I would really like to fix it myself.

  • Answer:

the cruise control will engage on any speed above 38 miles per hour on that van,so id be checking the relay for it,that's the most common cause of them to stop working, try this disconnect the switch on it from the wiring harness under the dash and use an ohm meter and set it to alarm mode and see if when you mask the switch that it sets the alarm off on the ohm meter, you can use alarm mode or ohm readings either one and that will quickly tell you if its the switch bad on it,if the switch is good then check the relay unit,i seriously doubt that its the switch bad though ,id replace the relay and make sure the fuse hasn't blown for it,good luck.

the switch its self

Check the fuse , switch and the ground going to the cruise control servo , you'll see that it has two steel lines running from it that's the servo unit , it has a thick black wire that's the ground, test or cut the wire coming out of the servo , add another wire the same gage or thickness and run it to the negative battery post. The body control module=BCM can also cause it not to work or a wire going to it. Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way remember that the cruise control won't engage until you're going at least 60 kms an hr.

Check the recalls on your vehicle. Dodge has many problems with it's mini vans.
