Answer:
A bachelor of science or a bachelor of arts degree in engineering is the first step a candidate needs to enter the field. Individuals who enjoy solving puzzles, fixing things up around the house or working on the car might be cut out for a future in engineering. The discipline is also about thinking outside the box, being creative and coming up with solutions people haven’t thought about before. Chemical Engineer These engineers may work directly in the manufacture of chemicals, or they may work in other industrial settings, where they use chemicals to manufacture various products. They must learn the principles and applications of physics, chemistry and engineering. Chemical engineers are employed at factories and industrial plants. At the time of this publication, the starting annual salary for chemical engineers is salary of $50,000, with the median income for all chemical engineers rising to $65,000. Mechanical Engineer Mechanical engineers design and manufacture tools, engines, heating and cooling systems, generators, and other similar equipment. They also construct power systems that will run machinery. They are employed mainly in plants and other industrial sites, designing solutions on computers and implementing them primarily in factory settings. Mechanical engineering is a broad field, and developing technology is expected to add jobs to this sector. As of May 2011, there are 238,700 mechanical engineers now. Electrical Engineer Electrical engineers design and build electronic equipment, which include power applications, cars, robots and consumer electronics. They often develop their designs on the computer and run simulations before testing them in real life. Often, much failure is required before a design is successful. Employment opportunities for electrical engineers are found in plants, laboratories, universities and offices. As of May 2011, entry-level electrical engineers with bachelor’s degrees earn between $50,000 and $62,000. Civil Engineer Civil engineers plan the infrastructure of roads, bridges, dams, sewers and reservoirs. They often work for the government, although there are many private firms that subcontract work from the government. They often work in offices and construction sites, using the computer to aid in designing solutions that they then carry out and lead at the place of construction. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 345,900 civil engineers are expected to be employed in several capacities by 2018.
