How to change thermostat on dodge dakota?

1994 Dodge Dakota V6 Fan Switch change difficulty?

  • 1994 Dodge Dakota Sport V6. Now, I am going to buy this truck for a garbage runner, tow light stuff... But, I took for a drive, the temp gauge slowly creeps up, never overheats, but gets warm. I replaced the Thermostat, well cause it is easiest, next is obviously the water pump and hopefully not the radiator. So, the symptoms are the following, I can drive the truck, runs mint, slowly warms up, when I get to my location, I get out, the truck engine I can hear boiling.. Is this the water Pump? 2 days ago - 2 days left to answer. Additional Details Ok brought the truck to the garage and hooked up to the pressure test, the radiator passed, so no leaks there. I drove the truck a bit, the temp does seem to go up rather slowly. So my hunch is the Fan Switch? How much is a job like this and is it something I can do myself. I will await some experienced response before I head to the part store for my weekend adventure.

  • Answer:

There is no "fan switch" on this truck, it does not have an electric fan. I believe based on my experience that your radiator is internally plugged up, and that is why it behaves the way it does. A pressure test means nothing in that respect. zxc090
