What is the best mopar engine to put in Ram 1500?

I have a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 and just put a MOPAR Cold Air Intake System on, now my engine light is on?

  • My engine light is now on after installing the cold air intake. Just wondering if this was normal. The place I got it from had already close but I will call them first thing Monday morning. Also, on both ends of the silver tube, it had flat spots, is this normal?

  • Answer:

You shouldn't have any check engine lights after the install. I would do a once over on the install and make sure all the hoses and connections are tight, make sure there are no loose wire connections, or wires you forgot to reconnect. The intake was made by mopar, it was designed to have the flat spots. Also chrysler/dodge vehicles do not use a map or maf sensor.

the reason the cel light is on is you changed the air fuel ratio settings on it by allowing more air to enter the engine the computer couldn't compensate for this,so it set the light to warn you that its off, that's a normal thing to get a light after installing a cold air intake system on any of those, you may also have to use their mass air low sensor to get the light to go out and remain out, unless it came with one and you re-used the old one you will continue to get a cel light on this one no matter how many times you erase it ,it will always come back on again, call them and ask if they have one for it most companys offer one to work with the air intakes they sell, good luck.

You probably voided your warranty. The cold air intake has changed the air flow to your engine so the ecm can no longer get a correct air flow reading. In this case the ecm can not get correct fuel delivery to get the required 14.7-1 air fuel mixture. Did you install the maf sensor that was on the original intake ?

the light is just fine its just your computer is used to sencing a certian amount of air going into the carb but now that you replaced it it has more air but it willl be fine all new cars are like that too when you put rims on your car my challanger was like that
