Does anybody know anything about poker dealers?

Anybody out there know anything about 95 dodge caravan automatic transmitions? Maby a simple problem/fix?

  • I just bought a used 95 dodge caravan "automatic transmition" a few weeks ago. It has had a problem going into reverse scence I got it. If it is cold and you shift into reverse it acts like its in neutrel, just reving rpm's. After a few seconds "depending on how cold" it clunks into reverse really hard! It would break gears if I did it cold verry much! Warm, it acts totally normal and works great! It also had a slow trans fluid leak so I put a bottle of trans stop leak in it! After a few days, it started slipping from a stop going into drive! No hard clunk like reverse, just slipping for a sec or 2! The auto trans also delays shifting gears! It revs for to long before shifting to the next gear! There is also a viboration after takeing off for a few seonds, then totally smoothe! So I went to a trans shop! They said to have the trans fluid/filter changed, so I did! This helped the trans feel "smoother! " Smoother with the same issues! When cold not going into reverse without delay and big clunk, slipping from stop to moveing in drive with a viberation for a few seconds and late trans shift between gears! The leak seems to have eather slowed way down, or stoped! The shop now said $1000 to fix and replace whole trans!, I dont believe that is in need because trans works great/smothe after in gear "no grinding or jumping out!" This is a trans enguageing problem, not gear problen! I think because its a auto trans, maby the trans speed cencer? I found a 2nd fuse /relay box under the hood! The trans relay/fuse were gone! I thought I had found the problem! After makeing a few calls, I found out that fuse/relay box is universal between differant makes/modles! The dealers/shops say the fuse/relay PROBLY doesent apply on my modle/make! They just wanted me to bring it in to them to see for sure! Nobody would tell me anything over the phone! The internet said possibly a trans speed cencer! I see it is real simple to get to and change! Right next to the trans dip stick! It actually rubbed the coteing off the wire agenst the dip stick and grounded and blew the ignition fuse! I electrical taped and fixed that problem! The only reason I seen it was because I was checking the fluid levle and seen a jumping spark! Is that cencer totally bad? maby grouending out/went bad before I got the van! Im not a dodge mechanic, but I know enough that I dont think this is a big problem! Hopefully not big enough to have to replace the whole trans! HELP ME! What controls the auto trans and tells it to enguage in gear/shift from 1 gear to the next? And what is that vibration for a few seconds takeing off? Auto trans, got to be a relay/cencer/fuse or something right? I see on the intent this is a common problem with the dodge caravan! I just cant find the sulution/answer anywhere! Somebody out there knows exactly whats going on! Please help me out! I am 29 and got a 4 year old son and a wife to take care of with only 1 vehical! I dont got much money! Im not sure it takes much to fix this problem, but Im not a dodge expert! Somebody throw me some good advice/answers that are acurate so I can fix this problem, PLEASE!

  • Answer:

you are talking about a very old vehicle. Could be lots of reasons. I don't like the sound of the wiring. There may be other faults in it - could lead to fire. No easy on-line answer. by the way - sensor - ie something that senses.
