Answer:
The only difference in vehicles is the looks. The drivetrain is the same on both vehicles.

I have a 2006 Dodge Magnum SXT (3.5L). The differences in gas mileage between the 3.5L and the 2.7L is only about 1 mpg, but the 3.5L has alot more power. plus, most dealers are selling used 3.5L's for the same (and sometimes even more) as the 2.7L's. The Magnum,300, & Charger are identical mechanically. Just different bodies and interiors. I've driven thousands of miles on road trips. I use the recommended 89 octane. I average 25-26 mpg hwy taking it easy (keeping it 65 mph or below). Combined city/hwy I get about 22-23 mpg. Just city, about 19 mpg. These are pretty heavy cars so you won't get the mileage of say, a Chevy Impala. On the plus side, they are also one of the safest. I've seen Magnum drivers survive accidents that someone in something like a Honda Accord would be DOA. The worst things about the LX's is the front suspension which can be expensive to fix when the mileage gets high. But don't blame Dodge for the design as it is a Mercedes Benz carryover. If you want all the in's and outs, check out www.lxforums.com and get actual owners advice. (I'm a member also) Of course you will hear Hemi owners say they get almost as good a gas mileage as the V6, but the Hemi models are more expensive to fix.

From a classic stand point, both cars names were brought back, the Charger from the 60s and 70s as with the 300. The older Chargers never had 4 doors, which is why I don't like them. The 300 was Chryslers luxury model and when they brought that model back I think they did a really nice job...my vote is for the 300. Both cars are built on the same platform so for me it is just about styling. Good luck with your purchace.

The v6 300 and Charger share the same Chrysler 3.5 engine which is very reliable. Stay away from the 2.7L engine though. It has a history of sludge build-up issues. Plus, the 2.7 is underpowered for the big body 300/Charger. It pretty much comes down to looks between these two.

their basically the same car just a little different body styles and a few difference's in the exterior and interior trim on them, they was built on the same plat form, good luck.
