What are some good ideas for a practical and affordable starter home?

99 Dodge Stratus not starting, clicking starter, starts some times?

  • We have a 99 dodge stratus 2.4 auto it also has a hornet alarm with remote starting. After driving around making a few stops we went to start the car with the remote and it didn't start so I went to use the key and nothing. I looked at the fuses and then started to take the dash apart to look at the alarms connections. Meanwhile called AAA for a tow. When the tow got there we were fooling around with everything we could think of and finally it started with the remote. Drove home and looked under the dash some more and found a disconnected wire. Soldered it together and the car started with the key and the remote..... a week later the car doesn't start again the tow comes he fools with it and jumps the starter with a screwdriver and says it the starter. The wife drives it home I try to start it the starter just clicks. I put a new starter in it just clicks same thing. try the remote the alarm relays for the starter just buzz. Out comes the starter put in a new battery stars right up, try the remote starts up. Solved...NOT Don't drive the car for a day doesn't start easy.. turn key click turn key 2-3 times car starts. remote won't start the car. I checked all fuses and starter relay, replaced relay still the same. Sometimes it will start with 1 turn sometimes its 2- clicks of the starter and it will start.. any ideas please Thanks so much

yes i got almost the same alarm system you have on one of my vehicles, theirs a control module for the alarm that has several smaller modules in it that will cause this too happen to it,when mine done that i went to their web-site and they sent me a new control unit ,you need to also check the starter relay first though ,that system wires through the relay and is designed to make the car not start if tampered with, and the alarm may think its being tampered with, anytime the battery is disconnected the alarm system has to relearn its self, which is usually done by arming and then disarming it and that resets it,try that also, anytime the battery is disconnected the alarm module will relearn its code and that may be some of the problems with it,their a good system to have but i disconnected the wire for the remote start because the module keeps causing problems with it starting even with a new control unit on it,viper makes one of the best systems their is right now that doesn't cause any problems like that, good luck on it,if i can help you more on it ,just ask,i been through this with mine several times before.
