Why is my laptop screen not working and how do I fix it?

• I have a Compaq Presario (Don't remember the exact model number) After a year+ or working delightfully, the screen started to flicker when I'd move it and give me a black, white, or striped screen at certain angles. I was told it's probably a wire in the screen and no one would fix it. I also have a problem with the battery (it won't always charge and sometimes the computer won't turn on all the way, and I'd have to hold down the power button to turn it on as opposed to just hit it once) but that doesn't really bother me as much as the fact that I can't see anything on the screen. Well, anyways, a few weeks ago I noticed for the first time that one of the bezel screws in the corner was loose, and then my screen just stopped working completely. I can hear it turn on and if I type in my password I hear the tone it makes when it goes to my desktop screen, but the screen is completely black. Then I noticed the screw was missing completely and I have no idea where it went. Could the missing screw be the problem or is it definitely something inside the screen? I would really like to not replace my entire screen if I can help it. Also, if the screen can't be fixed... Would I be able to hook it up to an external monitor or TV via HDMI cord so I could transfer all of my music and pictures onto my external hard drive, at least?

  Yes you can connect it to the TV or to external monitor via HDMI. Your laptop's screen might have been cracked on the corner's it's a LED sheet behind the glass so once the glass is cracked the juicy like fluid reacts with oxygen and try's to get out. Then only it display's the black and white color flickering.
