Can I program the remote door lock fob myself?

I bought a used (cut) Key FOB for a 2005 Chrysler pacifica. Can I program it to the vehicle?

  • I just got this 05 pacifica & the dealer didnt let me know that the actual key fob key wasnt with the car b/c it was a repo (that i didnt find out until later either) i know im a total idiot for not checking the car out more. I bought a cut used key fob off of ebay. can i program this to work on my car? i have to use the lock button on the door b/c the trunk wont lock manually & the alarm goes off until i start the car every time i open it. help?!

  • Answer:

If the FOB is good then it can certainly be programmed for the security system by your dealer if the technician knows the system well enough to trick it but if the key portion has already been cut for a different vehicle it wont be possible to make it turn your ignition. It would only be good for the lock/unlock and panic buttons. yes it has to be programmed by the dealer. Best of Luck!

THE ONLY WAY WOULD BE IF YOU HAD TWO ORIGINAL KEYS ,THEN YOU CAN DO WHAT THEY CALL ON BOARD PROGRAMMING BUT WITHOUT TWO ORIGINAL KEYS YOU MUST HAVE A CODE SEEKER TOOL OR HAVE IT DONE AT THE DEALER. I OWN AND RUN A LOCKSMITH BUSINESS HERE IN ST.LOUIS AND DO THIS EVERY DAY.SO IF YOU LIVE IN ST .LOUIS LOOK UP KELLEY KEYS INC .AND I CAN HELP YOU WITH THIS.

ARGUING WITH IDIOTS

the remote will work, the key will never start the vehicle. the chip is locked to the original vehicle it was programmed to. best to get a locksmith to male you a proper key.
