Which headlights do you think look better?

PT Cruiser Headlights?

• My girlfriend has an '01 PT Cruiser. A couple of days ago it rained and her headlights wouldn't turn off, draining her battery. The next day it was dry and it didn't happen. Yesterday it rained again and her headlights stayed on. I've searched a few forums, and everyone says it's probably the switch, but the fact that it only happens when it rains makes me think that water is getting in somewhere it should and making a contact that shouldn't be made. I've looked around under the hood, but there's nothing that's obviously out of place. Can anyone give me some guidance as to where the wiring goes for the headlights, and where I should look for the faulty connections?

  There is a relay that actually supplies the power to the headlights. This relay is failing. Usually located near a fuse box. Many modern vehicles have a second fuse box located under the hood. The relay will will look look a cube, about 1 inch X 1 inch X 1 inch. Open the cover to the under hood fuse box, if there is one. With the ignition off, have your girlfriend switch the headlights on and off. If you listen closely you should hear this relay click as the lights turn on and off. To further verify place your finger on top of the relay and you will feel it vibrate as it actuates. Once you identify this relay make a mark on it so you can find it in the future. Go to your favorite local auto parts store and buy a new relay. While at the auto parts store remove the relay in question and bring it in with you for comparison. The relay simply unplugs from the socket. Plug in your new relay and your headlight problems will go away.
