Is a 2001 chevy malibu 3.1 the same as a 1995 chevy Monte Carlo?

i have a 2001 chevy malibu with a 3.1 v6 motor and i have an old 1995 chevy monte carlo with a 3.1 v6 motor and was wondering if these motors were the same or had any differance. Im looking to use parts off the monte carlo motor for the malibu is this possible? Thanks in advance to all answers!

There is probably SOME parts compatibility, but you should probably check with forums dedicated to the particular cars you're looking at first. The electronics are the least likely parts to work.
