What is the Correct Spark Plug Gap Setting For a 1987 Chevy S-10 Pickup Truck?

    I own a shop, and think this; You may have a plugged up fuel filter, or air filter for that matter. When you hit the gas, and it tries to die, means you have more of one than the other. Open the throttle, and you have all kinds of air, and if the fuel pressure is lazy, it will want to die. Same goes for the air filter; hit the gas, and it gets all the fuel, and not enough air to mix good, and you have a stall condition. As for your plug gap; there should be a sticker on the radiator shroud that tells you what plugs to use, and the proper gap for them. It will be the emissions sticker. If its missing, then call a parts store such as Auto Zone, and they have this info in their computer, and can tell you right away, but you will need your vin code. This will be a "letter" in the middle of the vin number at about the 7th digit. Glad to help out, Good Luck!!!

The gap is .035 . The idle thing could be a number of things, From a sensor to a burnt valve, bad plugs, bad wires clogged fuel filter, and list goes on Its like asking how to perform brain surgery over the phone. Good luck.

.035. as far as the no idle, is it stalling every time you try to start it? Is it idleing rough? is it a fluctuating idle? a little more information would help.
