Is this a good deal for a Chevy Monte Carlo?

Is a 2006 chevy monte carlo LTZ faster then an 2000-2005 monte carlo SS?

  • the 2006 monte carlo ltz have a 3.9L engine and the 2000 through 2005 model have a 3.8L engine. Is the super charged engine faster or is the 2005 model faster. I would like to know to if im next to an older SS, I wont look dunb when I try to speed off. Thanks!

It depends on whether is the Supercharged 3.8 or not. Andy W gave you performance numbers for a new V-8 Monte Carlo SS, not a V-6 (which is what the 3.9 is). The 3.9 car is not is as strong as that V-8. According to Carpoint, the 3.9 has 240/242 hp/torque, and the SC 3.8 is 240/280. The 2000-2005 MC only offerred the SC Engine in 04-05. Andy's stats above are for the non SC engine from 2000-2003, which had 200/225 hp/torque. Carpoints perf numbers: 2004 Monte Carlo SC engine: 0-60 in 6.66, 1/4 in 15.15 95.6 MPH 2006 Impala (don't have stats on MC, but basically same car): 3.9 - 0-60 7.44, 1/4 in 15.71 94.2 MPH Bottom line, if the old one is supercharged, don't race (or trade in for the V8). If it's not, you'll be able to beat it fairly easily, I think.
