1991 Corvette Jankel Tempest Value?

1991 Corvette ZR1 vs 2009 Corvette ZR1. which would you pick and why?

  • Answer:

WOW Ryan ya got a choice? 1991 was a heck of a car and worth big bucks. Go for the older Vette. New one will lose value like a "Lead balloon", why? cause wait till ya see the 2011 Vette. Seriously, buya 1967-70 big block, better than any Mutual fund

The 2009 will be much better. It is way faster. The 1991 would do about 185 MPH, but it would do this speed all day. The 2009 does over 200 MPH, but for how long is unknown. Add to that the fact that the 2009 is much lighter and as superior suspension setup. But I would own either of them if I had the chance.

It absolutely has to be the 2009 ZR1. Its not a fair contest in my opinion, the 2009 ZR1 corvette is not just one of the best and fastest factory produced corvettes ever made, it is one of the fastest and best cars made today regardless of the manufacturer. Especially for the price, other then the Dodge viper venom, there is not another car made that is in the same league. The 2009 ZR1 can compete and beat cars that are $200,000+. In addition, its not just straight line speed, it turns out absolutely phenomenal numbers on the skid pad. If memory serves me right it pulled between 0.99g and 1.01g on the skid pad. This rivals any non race car on the planet. I also like the look of the 2009 ZR1 better then the 1991 Zr1.

I would actually go with the older one...although I would want a 95 (405hp vs 385hp). The engine design behind the LT5 was incredible. The old ZR1 is still the only production Corvette to have a 32 valve engine. Also, valet mode was pretty cool, too. The original ZR1's engine shares absolutely nothing with other Chevy engines...and I like rare stuff. The new ZR1's engine is still based off the LS1...so the cool factor isn't there for me.
