How to install a surveillance cam?

How much would it cost to have a shop install a cam? its a v6 camro if it helps...?

• how much would it cost to have a shop install a cam? its a v6 camro if it helps...? i have a 96 camaro rs (v6). i am trying to get a feel for some aftermarket mods i can do to it. cams seem to be a solid mod is one of the "metal, WILL make power" mods instead of the weak "plastic, MAY make power" mods like filters and CAIs. i have seen great results from the cams that COMP cams makes (in my dads 454 haha) and i guess that a cam from them will be about $600 to have the cam and the necessary valve springs bought and shipped. i know that a cam is the heart of the engine, second only to the crank i suppose... i know how engies work in the books... but i dont have experience actually in the engine like that. how long and how much do you think it would take to have a shop change the cam and valve springs? now, i dont need the power of a v8 or want the insurance, gas prices, maintenence, etc that comes with a v8, but if you guys have any suggestions as to some good mods to a 4th gen camaro v6, that would be great! not including forced induction (no budget for turbo, no engine bay room or budget for S/C) thanks!

  Your best bet is to call up a shop in your area and ask them. Head over to www.camaroz28.com and see if there are any sponsors in your area or at least some reviews for local shops. One thing you said makes no sense though, you don't want or need the power of V8, the mileage or maintenance of a V8...well why are you modding the 3.8 then? You're trying to get more power out ofa small engine...the 3.8 is a great engine but when you start adding a cam, this that and the other you're decreasing the MPG and reliability...just saying...
