Where can I find Super Rod?

Hot rod carburetor setup, where can I find the intake?

  • Hello everyone, I need a little help hunting down a particular intake. It's for a Chevrolet small block. The intake I'm looking for is a 4x2 system, the carb flanges are in line with one another-not staggered. Anyone know of a website where I can find one? The carbs I'm using are rochester 2gv's each flowing 315cfm-it's for a 415hp 400 small block. The following are the engine specs: Bore and stroke: 4.155'' x 4.0'' Compression: 9.62:1 Camshaft- Duration @ .050 (Int/Exh): 227/233 Gross Valve Lift (Int/Exh): .489/.504 LSA/ICL: 110/106 The cylinder heads are your typical 23 degree aluminum heads from Dart with 76cc chambers, 170 intake runners etc. Open plenum intake is OKAY, but I prefer dual. Any ideas where I could find a 4x2 system with inline carbs that could accommodate my engine setup? I'm open to other setups. EFI of carburetor-just needs to be old school. Thank you ahead for the assist.

  • Answer:

Off topic, but if you really do have a 4 inch stroke small block with 170 CC cylinder heads, that combo is not going to run with that small of head without a TON of valve timing(BIG cam).

Hot rods are not being used currently and have been replaced by Spark plugs. Pls check with some parts aggregators who specializes in dealing with Vintage parts. In Delhi you can refer to Kashmiri gate and in Mumbai you can go to Opera house.

try Jegs.com see what they have or call 'em.

You could get a tri-power set up, probably find that on e-bay. Then you can make it look like a Pontiac eh.

Holley, Offenhauser, or Edelbrock all make advanced intake's. I believe that Offy has one that will work if you have the room under your hood. You could try Jegs, summit racing or any of the racing specialty stores. When it comes time to install it, you should try to match the ports in the intake to the heads, Putting ink on the top of the head and installing the intake without the gasket to mark the intake, you can see where you need to grind off the edges in order to "port" them. Taking off the mis-matched edges increases horsepower by reducing a drag point. Swirl porting and polishing inside the intake passages helps too. Remember that you still need good atomization at the point where the fuel and air mix. Holley also makes a "pro-jection" kit that bolts on where the carbs are. It's just an add on throttle body injection kit, but you will have to put an O2 sensor in the exhaust to make it work. These TBI units have an adjustable fuel mixture that you can adjust from inside the car on the fly.
