  • Answer:

Chances are the electronic chip in your key is no longer working. When your ignition doesn't match with your key (doesn't read the correct code from the key) it will set off the alarm, prevent the fuel system from delivering fuel and cut-off the starter system. You would need a new key and a Chevy dealer. The dealer can read your old key and know which key to make for you using the correct chip. Then when the key and cylinder match up it will start.

The alarm has to be wired to the battery somehow. Find it and unhook it.

If you have a key with the black resister pellet in it, the most likely cause is broken wires in your steering column...you need a new ignition lock cylinder...

Check out some of the searches(over @ LS1Tech.com) I've come up w/ and see if this can resolve your problem w/ the alarm system.

try pulling the fuse of the alarm system first in the main fuse box.. this should clear it.. as you have found out while the arm is armed and activaded will lick out the ignition and or fuel pump..
