What is the difference between front and rear struts? And where are they Installed?

What kind of struts should I get in my 1992 z/28?

  • Currently I have lowered struts that cause my front wheels to scrape the fender while making sharp turns and the rear body will hit the tires in the back causing big gouges in the side of my tires. I plan to raise it back up only to stock height and I would like the most comfort can possibly get while having a good performing strut that can handle well dealing with 450+ hp (383 assembly installed). I currently have red struts that are unbearably stiff and I feel like I would keep better traction with something slightly softer . I'm looking on spending up to $800 and doing the labor on my own. Please let me know!

  • Answer:

You need springs. That is what holds the car up, not struts.

Struts and shocks dont lower a car. The springs are what changes the ride height. With an $800 budget you can have a nice set of springs, struts and shocks. Use moog factory replacement springs on all 4 corners for a Iroc camaro. These will run you about $115-130 for all 4 Then for shocks/struts pick from Koni, bilstein, tokico or KYB AGX. I run the KYB AGX on my 1988 camaro. These are adjustable which is the reason why I bought them. 8 adjustment settings, can make adjustments on the car, so you can change the firmness to how ever you like it or need it. All 4 KYB AGX shocks/struts will run you about $470-475
