2010 Honda Accord Sedan/Coupe?

2010 Chevrolet Camaro vs. 2010 Honda Accord Coupe?

  • I turn 16 in less than a month and my parents have agreed to get me a new car for my birthday (call me spoiled but believe me, my situation enables me to deserve such a gift), and my number one choice is the new Camaro. This is an obvious desire, and for a 16 year old a risky option, and can be pricey when factoring in insurance. My parents have suggested instead to get me the Honda Accord Coupe, which is admittedly extremely awesome looking but just lacks that cool factor any teenager wants, especially because I am a boy and the Accord has a certain, girlishness about it. My parents are giving me an ultimatum - get the base Camaro LS, which is the cheapest of course but lacks a lot of features such as wheels and leather seats among many other things, which would make up for the pricey insurance, or get a Honda Accord coupe EX-L, which is a pretttty nice package with leather seats (in case you haven't noticed, Leather seats is a big feature for me lol) and because my father owns a Honda motorcycle shop in town we have a deal with the car dealership to get any vehicle at cost, so the Accord would be the cheaper option overall. Which one do you think I should go for? I would like a new Dodge Ram but for what I want they are just too expensive... so these are two amazing cars I get to choose from but I'm just torn between them! Thanks for your advice.

Hey Jasper, Well, first off; congrats on the prospect of getting a brand new car. Your first car is always your most memorable -- whether that be for good or bad reasons! You have two very interesting options here, so let me tell you what we here at AM think you should do. While the Camaro is, without a doubt, the penultimate teen car and the coolest looking vehicle on the road right now, it might not be your best bet. While your parents have offered to pay the insurance on whichever vehicle you choose, you might want to keep in mind that even the base Camaro will be considered a “sports car” where as the Accord will not. Being 16 and male, the insurance companies are just going to milk your parents for every penny they’ve got -- especially if you happen to have an accident with your brand new ride. True, the Camaro is the cooler, more stylish, uber-male vehicle, but in the end the Accord is your best option. As you said, you get leather seats, heated front seats, 10-way power adjust seats, steering-wheel mounted controls and reliability. See how I threw that last one in? Reliability is your very best friend when it comes to your first car. Unfortunately the American auto industry has yet to catch up with the Asian players and it’s painfully clear in the quality of build of their vehicles. Hondas are notoriously reliable and long-lasting vehicles so you can bet this one will last you well into your 20s or whenever you scrounge up enough cash to splurge on a vintage, well-kept 1983 T-top Camaro. THE CAMARO would be a good choice, you'll get more pootang. If you want alot of car for the money though, i would suggest a new lancer evolution. Its the one car with the most bang for your buck. Also has AWD

camaro all the way man.. their is a guy in here with a base model LS camaro white.. he painted his wheels white too and it looks pretty damned clean. the way i view it is you can either look cool in the camaro regardless of features or drive the accord. I personally would take the camaro and spend money of doing a supercharger kit or something to put it in the ss range. however i actually just ordered a new 2ss camaro. but either way good luck to you and to brian w.. wtf gtfo! you know nothing..

I love the Camaro i have owned 6 in my life a 2002 SS,1998 Z28,1995 Z28,1988 IROC-Z,1978 Z28,1967 SS 396 listen insurance wise since your still a kid the Accord would be a cheaper to insure vs a Camaro V6 or High Performance Model Camaro just the fact to that the Camaro is a Sport's Car

Ruckus is an idiot! chevys dont go bad almost ever! the only time they go bad is when you treat them like crap by smoking your tires or racing it and keeping the topspeed to long to where the engine just cant take that kind of abuse and shuts down. GO CAMARO!!!!!!!!!!! Get the info at

first of all. you dont want leather, its only cool for the first year or so. Then it gets ruined after daily use. cracks and fades. the camaro is a real sweet ride. that v6 gets over 300 HP and it gets 30 something miles to the gallon highway! insane! go camaro all the way.

Like all American brand autos the Camaro will begin its falling apart within a couple of years, if not sooner. As you cry over this the Hondas will still be rolling down the road.

The Accord, hands down for a number of reasons. 1) More reliable 2) Smoother ride 3) Leather seats - if it's so important to you, why not? 4) Insurance And of course, the most important factor - Your parents/the golden rule. In other words, whoever is forking out the gold (the money) makes the rules. Trust me, be fortunate that you have parents who will pay for a new car for you. Alternatively, if you're dead set on a Camaro, you can offer to pay for the insurance (but that can be several thousand dollars A YEAR).

The money you save on gas and lower insurance in the Accord can be put on customizing it, or enjoying your college years. I said YEARS. The Camaro is cool now, but it will get old and tired faster than the Honda, plus all the guys in Mustangs will challenge you everywhere because they constantly need to prove their worth. You can drive the Honda in peace. Next; take your girl for a cruise. Daddy will let you take the 30ft out , won't he?

Well, the smart choice would be the Accord for a variety of reasons. The Accord will always, and i mean always be worth more money after you drive it off the lot. The problem with the Camaro, especially the one you mentioned is that a lot of rental companies buy this car for their fleets, which means in one year the market will be flooded with "almost new" camaros. So if you do decide you want to get something different, your Camaro will be worth squat, compared to the Accord which will still be worth a good amount of coin. If you do decide to buy a camaro, look for a new "used" one, you will probably save thousands, since there are probably already some on the market from the rental companies.
