    I found a link that is chock full of information that may just answer your question. It lists other car models with the same transmissions AND what you would need to do to modify it to fit into your 96. BUT it does appear that this information only works if you have a V8. 94-96 Camaro Z28/Trans Am provided you have a V8. Any base Camaro or Firebird if you have a V6.

it matters what size engine you have in it. for instance a v6 you might be able to use a camaro, monte, lumina. but a v8 is gonna be hard to find the tranny. you cant find many around with one in them that has been recked or something
