What do they mean by "The Driving Experience"?

What do high end companies like BMW,Porsche,,Audi, etc mean when they say stuff about the "Driving Experience"? Like does it Physically Feel "Better" for the driver to drive like a BMW than a Honda? Like, I just don't get what they mean by saying that the driver feels better. Can someone please explain how the Driver "Feels" when thy drive a car with a nice engine and such? Like does it feel all tingly inside or is it just te fact it's a smooth ride? Or does the vibration of the steering wheel comfort the hands or something?

Answer:
To understand this question, you have to realize that there are, generally speaking, two types of drivers: those that actually enjoy driving and enjoy pushing cars to their limits and those who see their vehicles as nothing more than transportation from point A to point B. The car companies and you referred to (especially BMW, "The Ultimate Driving Machine") and their advertisements appeal to the first group I mentioned. The people in this group typically can appreciate and understand more (out of their sheer enjoyment of driving) the technical and mechanical differences that BMW or Mercedes Benz puts into their cars to enhance the driving dynamics (tighter suspension, tighter steering, better cornering, etc) of their cars. Smoothness of the ride could be a factor that enhances the driving experience, but that is generally lost when you have tighter suspension because that leads to a rougher ride. Honda or Toyota appeals to those people who are looking for a reliable mode of transportation, not necessarily a "driving experience". It might also be worthy of pointing out that the reason most luxury/sport brands have a reputation of not being as reliable is because those cars are typically driven harder than, say, a Honda, thus requiring more frequent replacement of parts. To answer your question directly as to what the driver experiences when driving one of these cars is a bit hard to explain. For myself, I know that I enjoy putting the pedal to the metal in my car and cutting through corners with ease, something that I know I could not do in my friend's Buick. It's the exhilaration you get from driving these cars the way they are engineered to be driven (hard and aggressively but SAFELY) is what the commercials are referring to, and appealing to in it's customer base.

Ultimate Driving Experience, Ultimate Driving Machine is exactly what it is. They offer the best, most complete drive you could ever ask for. You want fast? How about turbo charged engines with direct fuel injection. You want to tackle the snow and rain? How about xDrive and quattro. You want looks? Audi, Porsche and Bimmers all are ultra sexy. In the end though, its all about getting into one and experiencing the drive. You can tell there is a significant difference in driving a BMW or Audi compared to a Mazda or Hyundai. The seats are made of leather and are comfortable. The Bose sound system is top notch. All the little things. And then its the feeling when you accelerate, and the smooth handling, and the sharp brakes, and the ability to turn heads when you're in an ultimate driving machine. No, I do not work for BMW or Volkswagen AG.

It's how you feel when you drive it. And it's totally true. I tell you from years of experience with all different makes and models of cars. "Do you physically feel better?" Sort of, in a BMW or Porsche you "physically" feel the road though the car, it's called feedback. And yes, there is a world of difference between the way you feel in the cars you mentioned as opposed to a honda or toyota, or lexus.

The easiest explanation I can give is this... Have you ever driven a Go Kart? If you have than you can easily understand the difference in that "driving experience" compared to driving a regular car right? Driving any of the cars you mentioned is a unique experience that is above and beyond that of regular cars.

Do a test drive in a Honda, Toyota and any GM car, put it through some paces, meaning, major road with lane changes, regular city driving, twisty roads, rough roads, safety maneuvers, etc. THEN test drive any of those you mentioned, BMW, Audi, Porsche, VW even, etc. then you'll know what's meant by a "driving experience". Learn first hand.
