Is my tt switchblade lure good?

How do i program my new audi key fob?

  • I bought a 2000 audi tt and it only came with one key. its the kind with the "switchblade" type key. i went to an audi dealership today and got another one, they cut the key, but i didnt realize till i got home that the buttons werent programmed to the car so i have no idea what to do. ive looked everywhere but the only things ive seen were how to reprogram after replacing a battery and i dont think that would work because even then it says you need two that work already. does anyone know how i can program a NEW key fob? or am i going to have to go to the dealership and pay them to do it?

  • Answer:

well that happen to me with my 2003 jetta and i went back and they did it for free, the say the that was included but they just forged to do it. so i will suggest to go back and ask them, but remember, try to play stupid, and tell then that they did something wrong and the alarm is not working, anyways that takes 5 minutes for them to program. good luck.

Unfortunately both keys have to be re-programmed at the same time by an Audi dealer. They are likely to charge you about $50-$100 for the privilege. They really should have told you this when you bought the key.

Ok breath.. its not the end of the world.. What you need to do is go into your TT.. Put in the NEW key that the remote hasn't been programmed into the ignition turn it to the ON position (dont start it) look at where the miles are displayed if you see the words SAFE then you need to go back to audi ASAP because the car will not start.. Now if it doesn't do that and the car starts we can move to step 2. Take the new remote out of the ignition and hold it in your hand for 5 sec. Then click the UNLOCK button twice. After doing that put the key in the ignition and turn it to the ON position, once you've done that keep the remote in the ignition and click LOCK, UNLOCK, LOCK in that order. Remove the key and go outside of your TT. Now try the buttons and see if they worked.. If they did viola your done! If not, sorry hun its time to cruise over to Audi because they didn't give you the correct key.
