Can the Audi Telematics (onStar) module be replaced?
-
I have a 2004 Audi A6 and it's got Audi Telematics (onStar) built in. This is what I've been told - for some reason, Audi used an analog OnStar unit and since 2007, they've been rendered useless since OnStar has gone digital. It doesn't really bother me but I'm wondering if I can take advantage of it and replace the Telematics module and turn it into something useful (like a bluetooth connection or maybe GPS or something, anything, useful - even just use the power from it to charge my cell phone).

Answer:
to my knowledge audi or any other company makes what you are describing. i suppose you could rig up something that would but that might necessitate removal of the right front rug because thats where the control module and reserve battery are.
