Can samsung d8000 play mkv files?

i have some movies on my usb and external hdd and i want to play it on my samsung d8000 but they are in mkv format so i want to know that my tv will be able to play it or not?

Yes mine does i use a wd 1tb and a segate 1tb external it plays most file formats if you have a formate issue you can easily retrancode and samsung is pretty good with new firmware updates.The d8000 is awesome Right!

Yes mine plays most files although samsung says it wont play certain file types,I rarely have issues I play mp4 video, xvid,mkv if transcoded properly.
