Why can't i see my SD card pictures?

My pictures are saved on the SD card but I cant view them on the camera?

  • I have a Nikon Coolpix L105 camera and have a SD card in it. When pictures are taken they are saved on the card (so, in other words, I can see them when I download them onto the computer) but when I try to view them on the camera, it says there are no files saved (it used to allow me to see them). Any ideas what the problem might be?

Hi Maggie, It sounds like you inserted the card into a card reader and used software on the computer to view the images. Once that happens it usually changes the file type to standard formats that are no longer readable by the camera software. Cameras are NOT designed to be used for viewing images, they are intended to capture and preview the images when taken and then transferred to more permanent storage, either a disk of some type or a media type such as a thumb/USB drives. If even one character is changed in the image data or meta data it will often become invisible on the camera, this is not a fault, it is the manufacturer's way of making sure that images are not damaged by the camera after they have been "locked" by processing software. My suggestion is get a small portable picture frame or E-reader that displays photo images & accepts a USB connection and copy your picture onto a micro-disk/thumb drive so you can plug it into the device and view the pictures in comfort. Hope that helps. E-mail me if you need more information.
