What's better a Garrett turbo or a Green?

I bought a Garrett t3/t4 50trim turbo off of a friend for my RSX. What else do I need to get?

  • I have an 03 RSX Type S, and like I said I bought a Garrett T3/T4 50trim Turbo. Right now my current mods are a GReddy Ti-C catback exhaust, and a AEM Short Ram Intake. I know I will have to get rid of my intake. What else will I need to install? I know I will need to send my ECU in for a re-tune, I was thinking HONDATA, most people tell me GReddy EManage is not that great; also I know that I will need a new exhaust manifold, and piping for the Turbo and Intercooler, but unsure on where to get it and which one to get exactly. Also, what engine internals do you recommend? I was thinking maybe new camshaft, pistons, injectors, fuel system, plugs, unsure what else I might need. Any info would be nice. As you can see I am pretty new to the tunning area, and appreciate your input. Thanks, Rob P.S. Any vulgar answers will be reported.

    In all honesty it would be cheaper to sell this turbo and just buy a complete kit. A good quality kit for your car is about $3,500, and has EVERYTHING right down to the fuel management. http://www.turbo-kits.com/rsx_turbo_kits.html Here's a good place to start looking. Now consider that a quality manifold will be $800+, the intercooler $500+, a VEHICLE SPECIFIC piping kit is $300-$500, fuel injectors $500, blow off valve $300, wastegate $300, Then there is the fabrication of parts, necessary fittings, and of course tuning. You can EASILY spend double of what a good kit costs to get less power.

Test It And Make Sure Theres No Shaft Play, I Would Use 3IN Mandrel Bent Aluminum Piping, With A Greddy Or Innovative Front Mount, Definentaly A Tubular Manifold If You Have The Money. HONDATA Is Great For The Tune! If Your Using It As A DD Id Probaly Run About 10-12 PSI. Race Only Probaly 16-18PSI. Goodyear Has Great Steel Braided Oil Lines Also. Also Id Probaly Use A Greddy BOV, And A TiAL Wastegate+ Greddy Turbo Timer!

all the stuff you still need for the turbo would probably cost you around another 5 grand. hondata kpro-$995, manifold,downpipe,intercooler,any other pipe fittings that you may need. also, bigger fuel injectors and definitely a stage 4 clutch. and you dont need to do anything else to your engine (cams, pistons) because the k20 is such a strong motor and is turbo ready

if the car was naturally aspirated before, then you need to rebuild the motor because you need to lower your compression to compensate for the added boost. custom welding and other hoses will also be needed if your car has never had a turbocharger before

Lowing your compression ratio is NOT necessary at all. You can boost a stock motor no problem it just depends on how much power you are looking for and if you have the money to back it up. Check out the guys at Clubrsx.com
