What colour is glow in the dark?

Amazing things animals can do.change colour squid...glow in dark jellyfish?

  • Just watched a program about genetic engineering and bio hacking and they made some goats that produced the spider silk protein...so just wondering can you think of any animals that can do cool and unusual things that you could put into another animal.

  • Answer:

Octopi can change color for camouflage and to warn/scare predators, and they can squeeze their bodies into virtually anything, plus they are intelligent enough to be able to open jars and can squirt ink; puffer fish can fill their bodies up to make themselves larger and their spikes more prominent; eagles can focus on virtually anything in range as they can use both the lens and cornea to focus light on the retina; Basilisk lizards, and water striders can run/walk on water; some spiders trap air in their hairs so they can breathe while hunting underwater; cockroaches can survive A nuclear bomb dropped on them, or being beheaded for a month; many deep sea creatures use bioluminescence to attract prey in the depths, such as the angler fish; the mantis shrimp has 12 types of cones in it's eye, so it can see pretty much every spectrum of light; and dozens of other cool abilities. Get a animal trivia book, and you'll find some amazing stuff. Or the Smithsonian's "animal life".

Well this isn't exactly the same...but you can engineer chickens to have teeth. They already have the genetic material to do so it's just the genes are 'switched off'. You can 'turn on' the genes to give them teeth. You can also take some genes from jellyfish and put it into other animals to make them glow in the dark too. Someone did this with rabbits. Woo, glow in the dark rabbits. Someone also created a frog with transparent skin so you see all the organs and blood vessels. And not genetically engineered cool **** - some spiders live underwater. They create an air bubble around themselves that they breathe from. hagfish can absorb nutrients through their skin from the environment too.
