Let's say lions evolved into a Sapient species...?

(I'm not really shore what category this shoud be in :-/ ) Let's say lions evolved into a Sapient species... What would their language sound like? See, I'm writing a story (writing is my hobby) and it has those sapient lions and I'm having troble tring to grasp what their language would sound like.

Sounds a lot like a Kzin from Larry Niven. Lots of growls ... "smiling" would not be a good thing....
