How long does a turtle live? And How long does a fly live?

  • How long does a turtle live? And How long does a fly live? There are rumors that a turtle that died recently was around 200 years old and that there was a picture of it taken in the 1940s, but there were cameras well before that, why are there no pictures of it before 1940s? What actual proof do we have that turtles live to around 200? I cannot find any real scientific EVIDENCE. Also, how long does a house fly live? There are some articles that say just a few hours, while others say several weeks, and I found one that said around 6 MONTHS. Again, where are the actual PAPERS on both the turtles and the flies that have been PUBLISHED and extablish EVIDENCE for how long they live? I don't think it is a conspiracy, or anything, but I would like to see the PROOF so that I can know EXACTLY what is rumor and what is truth. Thank you,

    If you aren't convinced of the claims, then it's your job to do the counterview research, not ours. They have put the information out there as true, so it's your job to debunk it. Lack of a photographic image isn't a valid 'debunker'. If there is a verified paper trail describing the same animal and it has been documented in the same place, this is pretty good evidence - unless there *is* a conspiracy to make the news and they've been changing out the tortoises every few years. ; ) Do a search for Galapagos Tortoise - most sites that discuss it say the life span is at least 150 years. If you want additional scientific reserach, contact the organizations and ask for it.

I think that the more important question here might be, how long can a turtle FLY? P.S. Houseflies live from 2 weeks to a month, and turtles vary by species. Do you know what type of turtle you're after?

Flies can live up to a few weeks. But they have very fast metabolisms so 1 month would equal around 100 year old human. (ever see a gray haired fly - no joking). Turtles can live a couple hundred years. But because their metabolism is so much slower, it would only equal to about 100 human years.
