Deterring Spiders?

Big spiders all around my house, need information on spiders in the uk?

• Hi everyone I want to know what kind spiders live in the uk, spiders don't really bother me but lately I'm seeing alot around my house and there big. do spiders usually move into houses in august or something? I never even thought you could get big spiders in the uk. the biggest one I've seen landed on my head when I was in the garage, I knocked it off and it landed near a small weightlifting plate, I'd say it was a inch or inch and a half in size. I've not been going in the garage at all lately since lol. any info on spiders is appreciated thanks

  You'll encounter spiders more often in the autumn as this is when they roam looking for mates. The larger spiders we find indoors in the UK are female house spiders - the males are generally smaller. We've got over 300 species in the UK but most are tiny. The biggest spider we have is the Raft Spider (Dolomedes fimbriatus) which can reach 23mm in length (70mm including legs). The largest house spiders are not far behind at 18-20mm (60mm including legs).
