Do I need a visa to go to Syria?

Do I need a visa to enter Syria with an American passport?

  • Hi, I have an American passport. I'm planning to go to Jordan next month and want to visit Syria. My question is do I need a visa to enter Syria since I have an American passport or not?

  • Answer:

You need a visa and you need to get it from the Syrian Embassy in Washington or through the Honorary Consulates in Birmingham, MI, or Houston, TX, or New Port Beach, CA prior to travel. Source(s): http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/cis/cis_1035.html#entry_requirements .. http://www.syriatourism.org/index.php?module=subjects&func=listpages&subid=155&newlang=eng .. Edit [based on other contribution]: If you check the travel advice website of the U.S. State Department you can read: "A passport and a visa are required. Visas must be obtained prior to arrival in Syria from a Syrian diplomatic mission located in the traveler’s country of residence." I recommend not to trust any statements just made here without any proof of reliability..
