What's it like to be a doctor?

Whats it like to be a doctor in africa?

  • i am doing a school project and i have to write about what it would be like to be a female doctor in nigeria africa

  • Answer:

I don't know what it's like for female doctors in particular, but I do know that depending on what state in Nigeria you work in, you need to be prepared to treat a lot of severe trauma cases. You may have to amputate a limb that's been shredded by a machete. You will likely have to perform skin grafts on burn victims, and carefully extract bullets from the frail and dying bodies of children. If you go into Jos to treat people, you need to be prepared to help your patients escape in the event of an attack. You may even be called to give your own life for them. You will be working in a local clinic, or in a camp set up similar to a MASH unit, depending on how remote the village you're ministering to is. It's a war zone in Nigeria. Be prepared for a lot of blood and gore, and not just the diseases and conditions common in third world countries.
