Alternative ways to send money from Africa to the USA?

I am looking for ways that are in addition to Western Union and Money Gram. I live in Kenya and I have relatives and friends in the US. I would like to mail some cheques to them for their birthdays that are payable to them in US dollars. Of course, my current bank has cheques that are payable in Kenyan shillings. Which banks in Kenya would give me a bank cheque that is payable in US dollars? If I gave the Kenyan bank shillings, how much service charge would I be assessed for the honour of them giving to me a cheque that is payable in US dollars. Please state your answer in either US dollars or Kenyan shillings. I know how to convert it. Thanks. Once again, I am completely aware of Western Union and Money Gram and how simple everything is. I want to send a cheque that is payable in US dollars.
