Drive from Qatar to Brittany France?
-
I Work in Qatar and I am delighted to report that my Wife has agreed that when I finish my work here in about two years time I am allowed as a reward to purchase a Mercedes S class. (I particularly like the idea of speaking into the key "Mercedes Start" and see it start and open the door for me to get in) In Qatar they are quite a lot cheaper than where I live, France, especially used. I intend to buy a good used version maybe one year old and drive it home. Any advice on Models? My route would be Qatar, Saudi, north to Jordan hoping to make Doha to Amman in one long day. Then North of course through Syria, Damascus into Turkey..then home free Bulgaria etc... Theres no route planner I can find that will do this for me but i reckon about 50 hours total driving is going to do it. I would hope to arrive home in Brittany on the evening of the forth day. I am an experienced world traveller, I would take spare fuel food etc. I would plan to stay in hotels at Amman, Istanbul and somewhere perhaps Milan area. I would have Pink Floyd on the CD My question is simple. Any advice? I have a long time to research the trip, visas etc. I would of course have a sat nav, ask the Foreign office for their advice etc.

Salam. I asked my dad this before cause I've travelled with him by car too. He doesn't travel much but when he does, he almost always goes by car, he just loves it. He always always takes as much water as he can, and he'd keep it in the freezer for days before leaving. I just suggest you take lots of bottles of water with you. He says its more necessary than food when you're on a long trip. And make sure the Air Condition is doing ok before leaving... once it stopped working while we were travelling and we were all just so cranky and in a bad mood, and we were in the desert! lol. Oh and 50 hours of Pink Floyd... bad idea honestly... lol :p I don't think I helped you much, sorry. I wish you a safe and comfortable trip, and hope you have a wonderful christmas. Salam :)
