How much does a safari cost? one week to africa/safari and back?

Does any one have experience/tips about an african safari?

  • Okay basically i have saved my money up since i was a little girl and although i am still under aged to go to africa by myself, i am 16 and a sophomore in high school, i want to get as much information on it as possible. I always new i would spend my money on something great and i finally found it. I have always been an animal obsessed person. This past week i decided to watch Nat Geo's Wild big cat week as i have always been fascinated by lions and leopards and generally just big cats. I was in awe with the beauty of them and now all i do is think about them. Then i learned the horrible truth. Through poaching and human population expanded the big cat population is going down and within the next few decades extinction is inevitable if we don't do anything to stop it. This was the deciding factor, i have never been out of the country and i might as well start with something i love. I would like to go the summer in between high school and college because i do not want to wait until after college. From what i have read online the best place to go is the kruger national park and/or private reserves around it. Does anybody have any experience (positive or negative) about where to go to see the most animals especially the big 5. Which private reserve or which lodge .... anything. Also any idea how much it would cost to go to africa for a few weeks? Thank you so much :)
