What is going on in Oman?

I'm going to Oman with an Employment offer, can anyone tell me how good is Oman, is it a free country and safe?

    Don't worry, it's safe. But it's pretty dull and boring too. Nowhere to go but the mall, not a touristic area, no nice natural scenes, no party life! stuff like this It's not Dubai & Beirut!

Life is extremely boring, weather is hot. If you are an adventurer type than don't come to arab except Dubai.

It is one of the best and the safest place in gulf. More of Indians (you can say it is a second India). No rush, No pollution, No ill treatment, No traffic jams. People are very cordial and sociable. Very good for a family life. No hypes

Oman is much safer, cleaner and healthier than India. I don't know what you mean with "free country". Oman isn't a democracy but that shouldn't bother you. Get familiar with local rules/customs and being a law abiding resident you will feel free.
