  FACT: They don't build closets in homes. I think its so strange. One must buy a cupboard and find a million ways to organize their home and clothes and shoes...all without a closet. FACT: As the Middle East is Islamic, there are customs associated with the "right hand" an the right side in general. For example: One should enter the bathroom with the right foot and one should eat with the right hand, if you were to hand someone an ink pen, it should be handed with the right hand, if you are at a doorway with others, the person on the right should be offered to enter first. FACT: Tea is an important part of Arabic culture and social settings. If someone offers you tea, you should never refuse. It is polite to also have a second cup, but the third is not required. If you don't want anymore you take the cup with your right hand and turn it upside down and shake it. FACT: A woman should not shake hands with a Muslim man in the ME, whether non-Muslim or Muslim. If you are non-Muslim it is offensive to a Muslim man and if you are Muslima, then you should not be touching a man period. FACT: Most people in the ME hate to read; and there are only 500 Universities in ALL the ME; compared to over 5000 in the US ,and over 8000 in India. FACT: It seems so strange to me, but as the world comes alive later in the evening here, many children, and even toddlers are out and about playing in the streets alone as late as 2am. FACT: When renting a flat, it is common to pay for the entire first year in some ME countries, (UAE) in advance, with no less than 4 checks. Or, in Egypt, one pays 50% deposit of the total years of the lease, and then the rent is reduced according for the monthly rental payments. So, moving-in may cost a minimum of 6000 EGP down, for a 2 year lease for example. (Nothing like in the US, and I don't know about Europe) There's a lot more, and know that not all the things are always observed or the case. I just gave you some stuff that I found interesting when I first came here.
