We also buy diamond from countries like South Africa, which aren't exactly categorized as "conflict countries". I believe countries in South America also produce diamond. Regardless, the labour costs are far too low in those countries, so it still has its negative points.

When you buy jewelry with diamonds, the jeweler is required under the Kimberly Act to show certification of where the diamond was obtained.

Nope...Most of the diamonds that are sold in the world market come from Botswana...In fact 40% of the worlds diamond production come from Jwaneng, Orapa and Letlhakane mines in Botswana...and no these diamonds are not conflict diamonds...they are clean diamonds as they have all gone through the Kimberly process to determine their origin..
