I'm assuming you want a photo safari rather than a hunting safari because that will make a difference in where you will decide to go. . If its a photo safari then it will depend on what animals (I saw the Big 5 and Baby Big 5 on my last trip) you'd like to see and in what type of a camp you'd like to stay. You also don't need to limit yourself to only one particular country and it is possible (and affordable) to do several different countries on a safari. Another consideration is the comfort level you prefer on your safari. People who have never been assume you pitch a tent each night depending on where you are. Those are available, but there are "permanent tent" camps, luxury camps, etc. that are available, which provide you the safari experience, but still offer you some or all of the comforts of home - flush toilets, running water, showers, etc. One more consideration is transportation. Do you want to do the safari by vehicle, horse, camel, etc? There are so many great beaches in the different countries. Once you decide on what safari you'd like to do, see where it ends and check out the beaches there. Again, a lot of options. Best time to go would be in Oct (right before their summer) or Mar.(right before their winter). Better prices and my preference is Oct. because it is still the dry season and the animals are all out looking for water so a lot of variety and easy to spot. Just did photo safari in S. Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Zambia. in Oct. 2005. I have also booked hunting safaris. Call me at 866-485-8175 and I'll be glad to discuss and offer you several options depending on what you want to do and your budget. Hope this helps. I loved Africa and enjoy talking about it.

KENYA!! KENYA!! absolutely kenya!! best safaris in the world and best beaches in the world!! Not sure exactly when it is, but make sure you go when the migrations take place (ask a travel agent)... its amazing, there's literally millions of animals have to cross some river and theres crocs in there hungry as ever... best show I ever saw in my life!! but its not all about that... there's so much more. I also scuba dive... the diving in mombasa is amazing! Trust meeee!! (by the way i grew up there- BUT THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT!!!)

Hello Go to Tanzania or Kenya. For Tanzania fly to Kilimanjaro airport ( KLM ). This is also a good oppotunity to climb the Mountain. Or fly to Dar es Salaam on British Airways. There are lots of safari agents. Only use the ones based in Hotels. Go to Nngororo goro its great you can stay out in a tree top lodge or in a tent. Try these people. This is an email we received from an agent back in 98 so not sure if they are still running or book through your hotel where you stay. Afrigalaxy Tours & Travel Ltd. I. I. Pagali, P .O. I did exactly that in 1994. I went to Kenya and it was absolutely super. I did a week safari in different parks and then I spent a week in Mombasa. I went from December 3-19. The weather was great. Not too hot or cold. Not too much rain either. I saw the big 5. Don't know who the baby big 5 are. Make sure you get vaccinated and take malaria tablets. In Mombasa I stayed at Travellers Beach Inn in Bamburi beach. The main thing to notice is that it gets dark without twilight. One minute it is daylight and then it is night. I went with SOMAK holiday company. It was a package holiday. Food is great at all resorts and the Kenyan people are really lovely. If in Nairobi overnight, it can be dodgy to go out alone. Lots of pick pockets and people who will try to offer cheap safaris and then rob you when they catch you off guard. Better to book a package holiday. Have a fab time wherever you choose to go.

Kenya's about the only place in sub-saharan Africa that isn't completely f**ked up and already has a well-developed tourism industry geared for safaris and lies within most peoples budgets - which of course means lots of people go there - it's safer than most other neighbouring countries. Otherwise you're probably looking at South Africa and Namibia. Everywhere else I'd be wary of. Kenya receives lots of sun all year round, enjoys a tropical climate, and isn't without it's fair share of rain, some heavy. June to September is probably the best time to go, not too wet (Apr/Jun), not too hot (that would be Feb/Mar), and coincides with the annual migration period.
