    Hey Lisa,,, let me tell you what happened to me..... i took travelers cheques with me a couple years ago... and i had the most difficult time getting them cashed.......no kidding..... so I suggest this...... get a pre-paid debit card instead.... just keep up with it..... make a copy of it,,, front and back to carry with you... have the numbers to call on something also,,,,, good luck

I agree, it can be excessively expensive to cash your travelers checks in Africa, it is better to use a debit or visa card to draw funds from your account at home. Most countries have western union offices where you can do this.

yes but better do a western Union thing that is better. Even yet hide your money and take it with you when you travel.
