Why does Iran support the Palestinians, when Palestinians were Saddam Hussein's buddies in the Iran-Iraq War?

  • My mom's relatives were also living in Kuwait as foreign workers in the early 1990s, and when Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait, he pretty much kicked all the foreigners out - except the Palestinians. I even heard the Palestinians were cheering in Kuwait City because they thought Saddam Hussein was their "liberator", and they even supported Saddam in the Iran-Iraq War. So, in light of all of this, why does Iran today care about the "Palestinian struggle"? Israel doesn't have any beef with Iran, why can't Israel and Iran have normalized relations?

    Iran doesnt care, they are just trying to distract and unify the iranian people, because if you havent notice, the government is backed up against the wall, the iranian people have had enough, so government of iran thinks if they start wars and interfering with other countries, the people will support them
