National Health care...How do other countries perceive their own National Health care?

In my experience the National Health Service in the UK is brilliant. We pay National Insurance through our wages which covers ALL medical fees and some fees for teeth & eyes. Can't fault it. Our country takes care of us.

I am in the UK and love the NHS. It is free at the point of treatment, though there are charges for prescriptions (about £6.65 or about $10) and also eye and dental care, but prescritions are free if you are a child, elderly or on low income. In addition, people are allowed to go private if they so wish. The NHS does have problems, notably waiting lists for non-urgent problems. But if you need emergency care, you get it straight away and it free with no cost to you from the NHS at all. When we look at ways of improving the NHS, we only look at health care in the USA for those who can afford it. Otherwise, when it comes to NHS reforms, we look at other countries in western Europe to see how they do things.

Because we're stuck in this conservative free-market-save-your-*** mentality. Responsible government is the only solution here, not reckless profit driven special interest.

You don't see them changing to our system, do you ?

i'm curious about this question, as well. after watching "sicko," i'm about ready to cross the river and set up camp in canada.

Each country has a health care scheme appropriate to the prevalent situation! It is not right, if not foolhardy, to impose any system on another, be it health, human rights, political system, economic models and so on!

The united states ( republican side) think they know everything already but France has it good. people in developed nations dont have the USA envy that republicans like to think they do.

I lived in Germany from 1985-1989 and then 1992-1998. I had German citizens working for me and they explained their Healthcare to me. They pay very little for drugs and nothing for doctor visits. But added all to gether their social security program, healthcare, income taxes, auto taxes, taxes on each TV and radio, come up to around 57% of their wages, The American people do not realize the cost for having what they think would be free. Working people already pay for the healthcare of those that can work but don't. You wouldn't want 50% taxes from your pay. Would you?

If other countries have such great Health care, then why do so many people come to US for their health problems, surgeries etc... because.. how long does a person have to wait to see a doctor and surgeries, months and some time years, that is why National , Universal Health care is NOT good for the US. Every state has a health care program already, anyone can join it, they pay on a sliding scale according to their income, and a doctor can be seen immediately, and surgery can be done, some time the same day, depending on the urgency of the problems. This Universal, National health care, is some of the first steps to Socialism, and the government will decide who lives and who dies.
