Why is the lottery a bad idea?

Idea! Could the Euro Millions lottery save Europe potentially?

  • I was just just watching the news about how Greece was in severe depression because there is barely any money in the country, then afterwards i saw a EuroMillions advert. Then a spark in my head happened and i thought, what if the lottery could help save some of the other countries like this? And maybe help some of the countries in the eurozone? Heres the idea; say there was £50mill up for grabs in the lottery. What if half of it goes to the winners, and the other half goes across Europe to help some of the poverty? It wouldn't go that far but it would sure help in some areas dramatically! say if they did this for a whole year or so, imagine the help it could do?! Do you think it could work?

  • Answer:

That's actually a good idea in principle. The only trouble with Greece though is they gave themselves a lot of money, i.e. paid off mortgages, treated themselves to the high life etc so if more money was given to them they might just squander it again. I do like your idea though and if it did work the money should go to each country, not just the ones in trouble. The reason I say this is a country could try and convince the Eurozone they were in dire straits just to get their hands on a bit of cash. If it was divided equally between all countries that would be fairer. Nice one.

haha, i thought ur question was a good one, i think personally that it is unlikey that nayone will win the lottery yet, perhaps later one, but for now people are suffering everyday, posiibly near death due to starvation and depression of how they will manage their bills. the euro million money is just sitting their waiting for one person to use t, but why not share it out betweeen hundred who really nee every penny they can get.

Don't even go there. If your idea was even considered, you could bet that our government would jump on the band wagon and introduce a "lottery" which would just be another name for "Tax". As far as being of help to countries like Greece, the contribution would still be so small on the scale, it would hardly register. Have a nice day.
