How ESB stands to gain from EU energy market?

Could Nick Clegg be he next EU President?

  • When he took office as the UK's Deputy PM on the 11th of May 2010 Nick Clegg said he would step down about a year before the next general election (07/05/15). Since climbing to the top (well nearly) of British politics Nick Clegg has become one of th mot hated people in Britain. He probably stands a fair chance of loosing his seat, I know Sheffield Hallam well and his popularity is now incredibly low! I have a sneaky suspicion that he is all to aware that on the 31 October 2014 Jose Manuel Barroso's term as President of the European Commission expires. Furthermore on the 1st November 2014 there will need to be a new President of the European Council as Van Rumpoy will have served the maximum of 5years. Mr Clegg is known for being multilingual, he is fluent in English, French, German, Spanish and Dutch. One of the main reasons Van Rumpoy was favoured by the EU elite was because he was also multilingual! I have a feeling that Nick Clegg will step down as Deputy PM, Leader of the Lib Dem's and indeed as an MP towards the middle of 2014 in order to give his party enough time to select a new leader (David Laws maybe) and for he or she to establish themselves before the next general election. I suspect he will favour the job as president of the commission (head of government), I think he's tired of being the bucket boy and has aways had his own vision of what he thinks the EU should be, less central regulation and big programmes but to also form a proper federal structure like the US, he even wants to replace Britain and France's UN permanent Security Council seats with an EU seat! He also claims that wants to make the EU more democratic and have one single elected president! I'm not saying any of this is right or wrong, I would favour British withdrawal from the EU but I know some people share Clegg's vision. What I am saying though is that I think it is very likely (almost certain that Clegg will end up with one of those 2 jobs. What are your thoughts, Clegg for President? Or do you think he has a future in domestic UK politics? Personally I think the potential 2014 Sheffield Hallam by-election should make for interesting results! Given that the EU Parliament elections are in 2014 (UKIP likely to clinch a majority, if we are to believe the polls) and that Sheffield Hallam voters are quite disenfranchised, could UKIP gain their first MP?

  • Answer:

I think Clegg will be most welcomed amongst the two faced morons that sit in the ivory towers in Brussels. He certainly has not shown any loyalties to the people of this country and has defended the stupid directives we so eagerly have to comply with, with his consent and support. Yes good riddance and I hope he takes one or two more with him.

No one on this Earth annoys me more than that vile effeminate Russian/Dutchman. His contempt for the indigenous British population sickens me. The sooner he ***ks off to Europe or anywhere else the better. I pray it's for as junior a position as possible and one that doesn't allows him to appear unexpectedly on my TV surrounded by African or Asian immigrants.

Tony

Nick Clegg should go & be president of Outer Mongolia, or somewhere else equally remote & he should take "lover boy" David CaMORON with him at the same time. The man is a worthless piece of ****.

Oh I hope not, what a two faced shite he is, he is like most of them but he is such a little turd and I would love for him to get out of politics and not have to see his two faces ever again, I hope the BNP get some seats anything better than him and I wish we could leave the EU altogether we pay millions every day to be part of it and it just brings misery to all the countries involved !

Blondie

I sincerely hope that Clegg's political career is over, that he will loose his seat at the next general election in addition to his leadership of the party. As for Europe I do not think any Brit will be elected as EU president in the near future, a country which uses it's veto, rather than stay and negotiate puts inself in the margins of the EU. The first Veto I have ever heard of which failed to stop anything, making us a laughing stock throughout the EU. Clegg along with the other Lib Dems who allowed their party to form a coalition with the Conservatives have destroyed their party. Even many who never voted for them believed them to be a party of principle and integrity, we all know now, how untrue that is, shame on them all.

You can tell that such a man with no principles would step down before he is destroyed, he knows he will be shafted in the next election. This man is a disgrace to politics. The sad thing is the Lib Dems will pay heavily because of him but dont have the bottle or integrity to get rid of him. Have you noticed Clegg is trying to do nice things hoping we will fall for it. A calculated careerist, sadly there are a lot of them in our parliament. If he gets that new job, and I bet he does, he will do for politics what Chisora done for boxing.
