If Washington DC became a state, how will tell the difference with Washington State?

  • Right now we say Washington DC referring to the Capitol, and Washington State referring to the state. But if Washington DC was a state, we could say 'Washington DC' referring the capitol, but we won't be able to say 'Washington State' because there are two of them. How do we address this dilemma

???? Really? You think that's not a problem that could be easily solved in any of several dozen ways? Like rename it, perhaps? Edited for afterthought: We could take a page out of a musician's book and refer to it as "The state formerly known as DC" -- or give it an unpronounceable symbol. Sorry, I'm getting silly now.

Same way we do now one would be called Washington and the other would be called Washington District Of Colombia. One is on the east coast one is on the west coast. Sort of like how there is a North Carolina and a South Carolina and a North Dakota and a South Dakota.

The referendum on this advocates renaming "Washington State" as Toplefthandcornerlina... (And selling Alaska back to the Russians so we don't need to change all the flags...)
