Who is the Home Minister of Pakistan?

Lal Bahadur Shastri:He did not have a house of his own-"A homeless Home Minister".What is your view?

  • Lal Bahadur Shastri (1904 - 1966): People used to tease him the "homeless Home Minister". The Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, however, did not wish to leave such an able and honest man outside the government. He persuaded him to seek election to the Rajya Sabha. He won the election and was appointed the Railway Minister. At that time there were four classes in the railways: first, second, inter and third. The first class compartments offered extreme luxury while the travails of passengers in the third class was beyond description. Shastri made relentless efforts to remove the wide disparity between the first and third class compartments. The first class, which offered royal comfort, was abolished. The old second class was converted into first class and the inter class was turned into second class. His idea was to have only two classes in course of time. http://www.hindu.com/thehindu/mp/2003/06/30/stories/2003063001150200.htm

Sri Lal Bhadur Shastri was the most honest prime minister and a politician of high morals.Had he been corrupt he could have had palatial bungalows. Being honest he could ever make enough money to purchase a house of his own. It may be a very long time before India gets another honest Prime minister

This reminds me my younger days. As a Service Engineer I used to visit Bokaro Steel Plant during 1987 to 1992. There I met one Mr. Tandon, GM - Tender & Claim. He was approximately 55 Years old. He was the poorest GM in the plant. He use to come to office in two wheeler. He never took a single rupee bribe. People use to call him as Lal Bahadur of Bokaro.

And a Railway Minister who put in his papers when a rail accident happened. That action displayed all the qualities one expects from our Law Makers.Compare him with the present lot who will cling to their Ministerial seats come hell or high water, criminal charges (even murder) be damned.Have a Nice Day.

Not having a house does not make Mr. Shastri a great leader, what makes him great is his honesty and dedication to work for people and work in right direction. He was a person who was and is respected by all, including the opposition. By the way... The present railway minister Ms. Mamata Banarjee also does not own a house of her own, but person with little brain can compare two.
