A Chinese citizen applying for UK general visitor visa from the USA?
-
Before I start, I should state that I do know US citizens wouldn't need such a visa to go to the UK, so I guess a very limited amount of people here would be able to answer my question; but if there happens to be somebody (like also studying in the USA from another country in I-20 status and went to the UK in a general visitor visa) who has had and gone through a similar situation as me, please give me some advice and assistance, I'd be very grateful. I want to apply for a general visitor visa (visiting friend) for this Christmas, my friend as the inviter has scanned and sent me her relevant required documents to me online(would be ok right? basically the signed invitation letter with intend of accommodating me and proof of her current status in the UK), but I'm still bit worried about documents I need to provide on my side. About the financial documents, the official website for UK visa application says, "You can submit any of the following financial documents to provide us with evidence of how your trip is to be funded." Bank statements or bank books up to the previous 6 months Bank letter or balance certificate Payslips up to the previous six months. Now my problem is, I just got to the US, can't provide 6 months' bank statements; I have got a reference letter from Citi, one and a half months ago,(that should be the bank letter I think), with enough savings on it, but that money was only on my account for a short while because I needed to use it for some purpose. Submitting of my visa application online was delayed till now for some personal reason. As for my account now, there is only less than 2000 on it. I can provide payslips, but that only goes back 2 months, as I've only got here. Could my financial documents meet the criteria of being issued a UK general visitor visa?? On my application form, I said the trip will be 13 days, live at my friend's place, and indicated my savings on my bank account as that of the amount one and a half month ago when I got my bank reference letter. Because I thought my current savings are too less(Although it would be enough for the trip actually) One more thing, the official website says, to provide original documents, like the original I-20. Is it true, because some say a copy would be OK? It won't get lost would it.. Please if somebody who is knowledgeable on these matters give me some advice...I'm going to take my biometrics on November 2, and then to mail my application documents within 2 weeks.
