On beach alone? Things to do?

What are the best fun things to do while I am at the beach this weekend?

• I am going to one of North Carolina's beaches and what should I do while I am at the beach this weekend? I have no idea what I should I do to have fun at the beach! Please answer this question with some facts about the beach. I am going on Saturday with my dad. And I need some ideas for my beach trip. Should I go swimming in the cold ocean or go surf fishing? Or should I go to Fort Fisher? I live in NC and I need some ideas for fun at the beach! Or should I take a walk on the beach with my Lhasa Apso named Abby? Or should I sit in a beach chair to read a book? Please answer my question if you please! Thank you!

  I live (and am a native of) Wilmington, NC. (where Fort Fisher is)... Our weather this weekend is supposed to be rainy on Saturday. Our weather has been really chilly (for us) since last weekend. The water is too cold to go in without a wetsuit... Go to the NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher (great place to visit), take the ferry from Fort Fisher to Southport (where we just moved from-back to the "city"!)...historical and lovely place to walk around...if you like oriental food, Thai Peppers in Southport is terrific...come to downtown Wilmington and walk the historic district and have lunch at any of our diverse restaurants (I can give you some referrals if you'd like)..go down to Wrightsville Beach and fish from Johnny Mercer's Pier... or take a charter boat (if the weather coopertates!)..visit the USS Battleship NC (in Wilmington...WORTH the tour!!!)....take a horse-drawn carriage ride downtown... Be careful when walking your dog..some beaches do not allow dogs.. and PLEASE, pick-up her poop, like you would anywhere else...We have LOTS of good restaurants, shops and things to see. It's my favorite time of year here...
