Where in Southern California does it snow that has inexpensive lodging? I just want snow I don't need a resort?
-
I made a lot of crazy promises about taking my girlfriend to a snowy winter getaway for her B-day. She doesn't want to ski or snowboard, and I'm poor, so basically a Motel 6 with a foot of snow anywhere in Socal should suffice. The cheaper the better. We're aiming to leave mid January (2011).

Answer:
Big Bear Lake/Summit northeast of L.A. would be the closest place. Big Bear Frontier has rooms from $59 right on the lake. There should be lots of snow too, there is right now.
