How to move on from your job?

How do you move to another city, and have a job before you get there?

  • What I don't get is, if you wanted to move out, how would you find a job before you get there if you can't get there for the interview? I would move there for the job, but can't pay hundreds of dollars each for plane tickets for many interviews before I find a job. Would an employer accept a phone interview if your address is far away (and if so, how far?)? Someone said most people move because their company has another office there, or they have family/friends, but what if you don't? Do most people without family/friends get stuck in their hometown for their entire life? Someone mentioned employment agencies, but do you have to limit yourself to them?

  • Answer:

One suggestion Look for a larger company that also has people in your home town. Secondly, if the company is large enough and your qualifications are what they are looking for, they are most willing to pay the costs for your travel for the interview (air, hotel, food, etc.). In many cases, they will also pay relocations expenses if they hire you.
